Boussole en ligne is a static site. There is no backend that receives your measurements. Here is what happens in your browser:
3. Device sensors (orientation, motion)
The compass, spirit level, and inclinometer request access to your device's orientation events (DeviceOrientation). These values are read in JavaScript and used only to update the on-screen interface. They are not transmitted, stored long-term, or logged.
Sensor data never leaves your device. No network requests are made with these values.
4. Geolocation
The sun compass and moon position tools use the browser's geolocation API to calculate astronomical positions. Coordinates are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to a server. The compass may also use your location to calculate magnetic declination (True North).
5. Local storage (localStorage)
Two items of data are stored in your browser's localStorage:
- Your theme preference (light/dark)
- Your ruler calibration (px/mm, method) and caliper position
This data stays on your device. You can clear it at any time from the ruler's reset button or by clearing your browser cache.
6. Cookies & trackers
Boussole en ligne sets no cookies. Theme and calibration are stored via localStorage, which is not a cookie. No analytics scripts or tracking pixels are used.
7. Third-party services
The only external resource loaded is Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) for text display. No tracking, analytics, or advertising services are used.
8. Data retention
Sensor data is never retained — it exists only in temporary JavaScript memory while the tool is in use. localStorage content persists until you manually delete it.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR and applicable privacy legislation, you have the right to access, rectify, and delete your personal data. Since Boussole en ligne does not collect any personal data via its servers, these rights do not apply in practice. For any questions, please contact us via the Contact page.
10. Security
This site is delivered via HTTPS. No personal data is stored server-side. All computation runs entirely in your browser.
